Revive. Revolve. Relove 20th May: 6pm

Thursday 20th May from 6pm: FREE ADMISSION

“Everyday discarded objects, brought back to life by creating aesthetic pieces.”

We're excited to announce our latest exhibition opening of Revive. Revolve. Relove. All the pieces will have been made wholly or partially from recycled materials. Whether it's an old jumper that has been transformed into a bag, or a tyre that has been turned into garden furniture, you're sure to be dazzled by the creative flare of our internal and external creatives.

This event ties in with everything that Stockport is aiming for currently: recycling, sustainability, and creative businesses using resources already available. There'll also be jewellery-making workshops using jigsaw pieces from puzzles with pieces missing. A good few of our resident artists and creative types already make new things from old, so this exhibition really showcases the possibilities to get people thinking about how to re-use what might have otherwise been discarded and ended up as landfill.

Revive your palate with a glass of wine and tapas, freshly prepared by chef Jim Slack, of Chancellor’s Hotel, Fallowfield.

It's that time of the month again...

Well ladies and gents, it’s that time of the month again. Yes, it’s time for Craft & Vintage Sunday. Teamed with Village Vintage, Broadstone Mill will be bringing you all the finest arts, crafts, vintage clothing and spectacular jewellery.

With approximately 20 crafters and vintage stockists, you are sure to find some secret treasure hidden away on our Upper Ground floor. If the proverbial April showers hold off we will have a gazebo outside on our grassy area with some lovely stalls to get you in the mood for the summer months.

Resident jewellery maker Anita Mistry will be in her unit getting up to her usual crafting fun. Anita runs a range of workshops in her unit where she teaches people of all skill levels how to make beautiful beaded jewellery. If you want to find out more them pop along on Sunday, or you can find her contact details here.

Two of our newest tenants Sarah and Lucy, aka Fikle and Small Frie will be bobbing about in their unit making their jewellery, cards and clothes. Each of the pieces they design are delightfully unique as each item is made from recycled materials. To read a little more about Fikle and Small Frie then click here.

Finally, our most recent and quirky display has to be in the form of MythCast’s fantasy and gothic art. MythCast offers concept, design and production of exceptionally well-sculptured and cast figures, ranging from mythical creatures to impeccable games pieces. To find out more about these fantasy pieces visit the MythCast website or come have a look at them on the Upper ground floor on Sunday.

We hope to see you all on Sunday! Take a look here for directions.

Discount Delight

So, our 2-day discount event last weekend in Broadstone Mill Shopping Outlet was a roaring success. With approximately 2000 visitors stepping through our doors throughout the event, shoppers were welcomed with friendly staff, discounts galore and tasty food from our new coffee shop.

As a lover of a good bargain I was overjoyed when I spotted an AX Paris dress (yes the same brand that is in New Look stores) at 25% off! I finally managed to walk away from the event before my debit card got a beating from 3 Fiorelli bags.

One lucky person who came to the event will be receiving an Easter treat in the form of £200 worth of vouchers to spend in store on selected brands. With spring well on its way, this will hopefully give the winner something else to smile about. For those of you who did not enter this competition, unfortunately the draw has closed, however, join our mailing list and be notified when the next competition is running. You’ll also receive events news and exclusive discounts to mailing list customers only! Similarly recommend a friend and receive a 10% discount voucher to spend in store when your friend joins.

Preview Opening Night 'The Soloist' TONGHT: 7.30pm

From Lowry to Hampton, Manchester has it’s fair share of great artists old and new.

Up-and-coming local artist Ahmet Kanak initially chose the city for his much anticipated debut exhibition, “The Soloist”, but has been convinced by Stockport arts fan, musician, Jonnie Jackson, to initiate his increasingly in demand paintings away from the glare of the city lights.

"The cultural life of Stockport is really buzzing at the moment with the Doves going supergroup and Dean Bailey bringing in DJ’s like Clint Boon to create a real underground boom.” said Jacko of the Stockport cult band Nouvelles.

“I had several offers to have the show in some of Manchester’s maybe trendier venues, then I met Catherine, Gallery Co-ordinator at Broadstone who told me about the opportunities of holding my exhibition there” says Kanak.

“As Stockport was my chosen place of residence I am aware of its buzzing local culture, this convinced me to launch my exhibition here” the easy going Stockport man remarked.

Kanak who is a member of Stockport Art Guild has been embraced by the local community in Stockport since he moved here from Turkey.

He has recently had a spate of interest across the globe, with sales, offers and commissions from as far as Canada and Germany, and right across the UK.

“Stockport has been the spur for my best art, and with the arts scene going so well, I thought my art will be best shown in public for the first time here.”

Kanak whose cubist style is influenced by greats such as Picasso and Braque, has 41 painitings on show at the exhibition. It runs from 5th to 28th March daily from 11am – 5pm. We are incredibly excited to be previewing his work TONIGHT at 7.30pm. We look forward to seeing you there!

Open Studios Excitement!!

After the supreme success of C3 Stockport’s Love in the Afternoon on the 14th February, the Upper Ground Floor is eagerly awaiting the new and improved Craft & Vintage Sunday this weekend.

The love filled day on the 14th of Feb saw cupcake decorating, card making, decorative paper box making and a valentine’s treasure hunt for children and adults alike. If that wasn’t enough, then the huge heart shaped collage of “what love means to you” was enough to fill any hopeless romantics heart. The hugely successful C3 Stockport event and exhibition received praise from the local papers and radio, resulting in the charity focused photography group actually selling out of numerous prints!

So this Sunday comes the turn of those with love in their hearts. Love for everything vintage that is. The 28th February brings the new and improved Craft & Vintage Sunday to the public. Alongside newcomer Village Vintage, run by resident artists Beckie Andrews and Alan Lowe, we aim to have over 20 crafters and stalls, which you can peruse at your leisure. With everything from clothes, to accessories, fair trade food to trinkets, there will be something for everyone.

So far we have over 60 attendees coming to the event but don’t worry, it runs from 11am till 4pm so the more the merrier! Best of all, its FREE entry!

If you want to read more about this event then visit our events page for the Open Studios.

We hope to see you there!
