Stockport CP Society Community Services
Community Services is part of Stockport CP Society, a local charity that promotes independence for people with disabilities. There are group activities for children, young people and adults available through our Leisure Link department based in Romiley; there are day services at our Skills Group in Heaton Moor and we have a residential care home, Cheddle Lodge in Cheadle. The Community Services Team based at Houldsworth Mill provides outreach support for people of all ages to access the community for a variety of activities. These activities include access to college or school, shopping, hydrotherapy and swim sessions, days out and trips to the park/cinema/museums and other places of interest.
We also provide support to live independently, or “in house” support eg for personal care or respite for families. There is a new free service available for families in certain areas of Stockport that provides a support worker to look after a child with a disability so that parents/carers can access further education or benefit from a few hours respite. In addition we have the SNAP project funded by BBC Children in Need that provides a playworker for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
